Aren't all kitchen cabinets the same?

Not at all! There are numerous differences between the way most manufacturers build cabinets and the way Danish designer kitchens in Sydney build their kitchen cabinets. Here are five major differences :

1) Kitchen cabinet doors: Should be made out of materials that are suitable for the kitchen environment such as polyurethane, solid timber or timber veneer. Vacuum formed and other similar products offered by many companies are inferior and not suitable for kitchen doors. The polyurethane should be sprayed on both sides of the door to allow high build coatings and to "balance" the doors and maintain dimensional stability. Almost all others in the industry now spray the fronts and edges only and not the backs, leaving dimensionally unstable doors.

2) The quality of the cabinet material: The cabinets should be made of high moisture resistant board with marine ply bottoms for wet area cabinets and solid timber structural rails to support heavy benchtop materials. Most companies would avoid the extra detailing required to use these materials leaving the kitchen vulnerable to water damage and structural damage.

3) Hardware quality: Danish Designer Kitchens use "Grass" hardware - renowned for producing the best drawer and hinge hardware available world-wide. The extra weight ratings and superior soft close mechanism set the standard for the industry. Most kitchen companies refuse to pay the extra cost to have this quality hardware as they are mostly competing on a price point rather than on quality.

4) Kitchen cabinetry installation: The best way to install cabinets on site is via a solid plinth style levelling system. This should be made out of marine plywood to avoid damage from spills and constant mopping of the kitchen. Many companies these days are using an adjustable plastic foot system for levelling and installing the kitchen. This is inferior as there is too much flex in the plastic foot system and the strength is not up to the weight of most modern benchtops.

5) Kitchen cabinet door hinges: Most companies use a pressed metal concealed hinge for their cabinet hinges. The problem with these hinges is that there is too much flex in the linkages and the pressed metal parts resulting in doors that frequently go out of adjustment. Danish Designer Kitchens use die cast hinges with superior strength and linkage components to give maximum service life with no adjustment issues.

With these significant quality differences in place, Danish Designer Kitchens offer a 15 year full service warranty - a final testament to the value of their product.
